Robert Schornick

Superintendent

Mr. Robert Schornick is the superintendent of Catoosa Public Schools. He is a proud husband and father, a dedicated servant leader, and a passionate educator with 30 plus years of experience serving students and families in both rural and urban Oklahoma. Serving as superintendent of Catoosa Public Schools is like coming home - and he is eager to give back to a community much like the one that raised him. In addition to 20 years working with rural school districts as a teacher and school leader, he was born and raised in Shawnee. As a kid, some of his favorite memories include Friday night lights and hanging out at Garrett’s Lake in Shawnee. Mr. Schornick graduated from Shawnee High School and stayed close to home - earning his bachelor’s degree at NSU and his master’s degree at ECU.

He has lived in Rogers County for over 17 years and is the proud father of two daughters. His wife, Paula, is a lifelong educator who started her career as a math teacher at Shawnee High School and is currently a professor at NSU, preparing our state’s future principals and superintendents for success.

Mr. Schornick is committed to working alongside internal and external stakeholders to help every student succeed in the way that matters most to them - whether that’s a technical school, college, the military, or a career. He believes this is an exciting time at Catoosa Public Schools. Mr. Schornick is eager to see what heights Catoosa Public Schools can achieve together in the coming years.

Mr. Schornick is a professional Uber driver in his spare time, transporting his teenage daughter to athletic events and activities. If time allows, you can find him in the backyard grilling and at the nearest garage sale in the spring and summer.

Tim Ray

Assistant Superintendent

Timothy Ray is the Assistant Superintendent of Catoosa Public Schools, bringing with him more than 20 years of extensive experience in the field of education across Oklahoma and Texas.  As a dedicated husband and father, Mr. Ray exemplifies the qualities of a consistent leader, with a strong commitment to uplifting students and their families. 

With a wealth of experience as a teacher, coach, and adminstrator, Mr. Ray has built a solid foundation in fostering student success and cultivating an engaging learning environment. His upbringing in Weatherford was filled with treasured moments spent playing sports, fishing, and enjoying family gatherings, all of which instilled in him strong values and a robust work ethic. After graduating from Weatherford High School, he pursued his bachelor’s degree at Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU), where he was a member of the basketball team. He subsequently earned his master’s degree from Northeastern State University (NSU).

Mr. Ray and his wife, Rachel, a physician who co-chairs a nonprofit clinic in Sapulpa, are proud parents of three daughters and one son. Their family embodies a strong commitment to community service and shared values.

In his role as Assistant Superintendent, Mr. Ray is eager to partner with educators, families, and community members to Equip students to Excel at Catoosa Public Schools and beyond. He firmly believes that collaboration is key to creating meaningful opportunities for every student, ensuring that they thrive in an environment that supports their individual passions.

Wendy Ache is the Executive Director of Business Services for the Catoosa School District, bringing over 24 years of dedicated service to the School District. With a passion for financial management, she plays a vital role in supporting the district's mission and ensuring its financial health. Wendy takes pride in contributing to Catoosa Public Schools and its students.

A proud graduate of booker T Washington High School in Tulsa, OK, Wendy believes in the transformative power of education. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys quality time with Mylum, her husband of 46 years, their children, and five grandchildren. Her home is always bustling with activity, making every moment special.

Paula Haueter

Executive Director of Secondary Instructional Services

Paula serves as the Executive Director of Instructional Services at Catoosa Public Schools, where they are dedicated to enhancing educational practices and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. With over 20 years of experience in education, she has held various leadership positions that emphasize curriculum development, teacher training, student achievement, special education and federal budgeting.

Paula earned her bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Northeastern State University, and later obtained a Masters degree in Special Education Administration from Arkansas State University. She is passionate about creating equitable learning environments and implementing innovative instructional strategies that engage all students.

In her role, Paula collaborates with educators and administrators to design professional development programs and curriculum initiatives that align with state standards and the unique needs of our community. She believes in the power of data-driven decision-making and is committed to empowering teachers to inspire lifelong learners.

Outside of work, Paula enjoys shopping, reading and taking trips with friends.  She has been married to her husband, Lynn for 36 years.  She has two sons and two grandsons.

Kelly Grossman

Executive Director of Human Resources

Kelly Grossman is the Executive Director of Human Resources for Catoosa Public Schools. She has dedicated 27 years to Catoosa Schools. In her role, she finds fulfillment in assisting faculty and staff with their human resource, payroll, and insurance needs and feels blessed to be a small part of such an amazing team. Each act of kindness, no matter how small, contributes to a ripple effect of compassion.

A longstanding active member of the Cooperative Council for Oklahoma School Administration, the Oklahoma Association of School Business Officials, and the Oklahoma Association of School Personnel Administrators, Kelly’s commitment to continuous learning and professional development has significantly enhanced the district’s Human Resources processes, particularly in talent management.

Raised on a family ranch/farm, Kelly developed a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for agriculture. She enjoys helping her husband, Steve, with raising cattle and working in the hay field. Steve was recently elected as County Commissioner for Mayes County, which adds to the commitment of a better tomorrow. Giving back and serving others enhances a community and creates a meaningful impact. 

In her spare time, Kelly enjoys traveling and watching sports. Most of all, she cherishes moments spent with her children and 5 grandsons.

Courtne St. Clair

Executive Director of Athletics and Activities

Courtne St. Clair is the Executive Director of Athletics and Activities at Catoosa Public Schools. She has been an educator for twelve years and loves working with coaches and students to create a healthy and positive culture for the success of all students, both on and off the field.

Courtne became an educator because of her Senior English teacher, Mrs. Curry. Because of who Mrs. Curry was and how she impacted so many students, Courtne found that her calling was to mentor and coach young adults. Her love and passion for softball was her segue into teaching and coaching. 

Courtne attended Seminole State College on a softball scholarship, where she earned her associate's degree. After attending SSC, she attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University on a softball scholarship, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree and her Master’s degree.  In 2023, she earned her Certified Athletic Administrators Certificate through the NIAAA. Courtne enjoys spending time at the lake, listening to live music, and caring for her house plants in her free time. She lives in Broken Arrow with her wife Lauren, son Kolter and two dogs: Shelby and Chloe.

Kim Culloty

Executive Assistant to the Superintendent

Kim Culloty is the Executive Assistant to the Superintendent at Catoosa Public Schools. She enjoys working with data that helps drive funding for our school district and students. Kim grew up in a family of educators and learned firsthand the impact that living a life of service can have on a community. 

Kim moved to Catoosa over 25 years ago with her husband, Steve. They have three daughters, Shayla, Kendall, and Jenna. All three girls attended and graduated from Catoosa Public Schools. Kim served as the building secretary for J.W. Sam Elementary and Wells Middle School before moving to a position in the Education Service Center. 

Kim earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business from the University of Oklahoma. Being a teacher was not her calling, but she is proud to serve a role in the public education community. She is thankful for the friends and mentors she has met during her fourteen years at Catoosa. She enjoys reading and working on home improvement projects in her free time. She still lives in Catoosa with her husband and two dogs, Jax and Juno.

Catoosa High School Principal

Mitch McGrew is entering his nineteenth year in education and third year as Principal at Catoosa High School.  Previously, he was an Assistant Principal at Owasso High School for six years.  He also taught Biology and coached for ten years at Tulsa Union HS and Bixby HS before being an Assistant Principal at Owasso.


Mr. McGrew Graduated from Broken Arrow High School in 1999.  After high school he received his Bachelor's Degree in Science Education from Northeastern State University and his Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from Lamar University.  


Mitch has been married for 16 years to his wife Rachel, they have a 15 year old daughter and 11 year old son.  Both of their kids attend Catoosa Schools.  Mitch and Rachel stay very busy attending soccer, basketball, baseball, and football games.  In his spare time, Mitch enjoys spending time with his family, working in the yard, and watching sports.

Mr. McGrew’s core belief of education is very simple, and that is, “prepare students to be college or career ready.”  Keeping this in mind will help Mr. McGrew drive collaborative discussions and decisions to ensure CHS students and teachers are successful in this ever changing landscape of education.  Being visible and accessible to teachers and students is very important to him as well.

Kelsey Barbee

Cherokee Elementary School

Kelsey Barbee is the Principal at Cherokee Elementary School. She is starting her nineth year in education. All of her years as an educator have been at Catoosa, as she has previously served as a fourth and fifth-grade teacher at Catoosa. She enjoys empowering students and staff to realize their greatest potential daily! 

Kelsey decided to begin her journey in education after the impact her high school math teacher, Mrs. Johnnie Marshall, had on her life. Mrs. Marshall was an incredible teacher who impacted all of those she came in contact with. She exhibited a work ethic like no other and was willing to do whatever it took to meet the needs of her students. She helped Kelsey see the importance of pouring into the next generation of leaders by giving everything she had to the students at Catoosa! Kelsey is passionate about serving the families in Catoosa and is honored to give back to the community that poured so much into her! 

Miss Barbee is a Catoosa resident and attended Catoosa Schools for thirteen years. After graduating from Catoosa High School in 2011, she obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education at Northeastern State University. She is working on her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership at Southern Nazarene University. Kelsey enjoys watching football, hanging out with friends and family, and traveling in her free time.

Lynnette Burchfield

Catoosa High School Assistant Principal

Lynette Burchfield is the Assistant Principal at Catoosa High School. She is starting her twenty-first year in education. This is her first year as a building leader. While in the classroom, she taught various English and Speech/Drama/Debate courses on the secondary level and in higher education. 

She became a teacher because of this single idea: I do not teach because I love my subject area. I teach because I love students. She likes interacting with students and helping them succeed every day. Lynette believes in every student at Catoosa High School and looks forward to helping them reach their goals.   

Lynette Burchfield graduated from Oklahoma State University with a doctorate in School Administration. She also earned degrees from Northeastern State University and Oral Roberts University. She is married and has two boys. She enjoys attending live baseball games, reading non-fiction, and hanging out with her family in her free time.

Michael Douglas

Wells Middle School Assistant Principal

Mr. Douglas is the Assistant Principal at Wells Middle School, entering his first year at Catoosa Public Schools. Previously, he taught 7th grade at Union Public Schools for seven years, as well as one year at Sand Springs Public Schools.

Mr. Douglas received his B.A. in History from Northeastern State University, and his M.A. in Philosophy and Apologetics from Biola University. Most recently, he finished his graduate work in School Administration at Southeastern Oklahoma State University.

Mr. Douglas got into education because he believes in the transformative power of learning. His love for students drives him to create an environment where they feel valued and empowered. Mr. Douglas is passionate about serving their families and collaborating with fellow teachers to build a supportive community. Watching students grow, overcome challenges, and discover their potential is what inspires him every day.

Shannon Harrington

Cherokee Elementary Assistant Principal

Shannon Harrington serves as one of the Dean of Students at Cherokee Elementary, entering her eighteenth year in education. This is her ninth year at Catoosa Public Schools. 

Mrs.Harrington received a bachelors in Early Childhood Education and a Masters plus 15 in Reading and Administration from Northeastern State University. She is passionate about meeting the needs of her students and creating a safe and fun learning environment. 

In her free time Shannon loves to teach her kickboxing and strength training class. She also loves to attend Oklahoma State University games with her husband BJ.

Salvador Guerrero

Assistant Director of Athletics and Head Football Coach

Sal Guerrero is the Asst AD, Dean of Students and Head Football Coach at Catoosa HS. He is starting his 14th year in education.  He loves working with the students of Catoosa to help create a positive environment in the classroom and the community.

Sal became an educator because of his 5th Grade teacher Jerry Young. Mr. Young was Sal’s role model. Mr. Young modeled exceptional leadership skills and compassion toward his curriculum and, most importantly, his students. Mr. Young would be seen at sporting events, plays, church functions, and other events in support of his students. Not only would he be helpful in the classroom, but he would take time outside of school to help students with anything they needed, from math to working on that jump shot in basketball which he did so often with Sal. Mr. Young, in Sal’s eyes, was the ultimate teacher and Sal vowed to pass on the same to his students one day.  He helped Sal understand, “ We must try to reach and teach every student every day no matter what it takes''!  Sal looks forward to serving Catoosa Public Schools and the Catoosa community the best he can!

Sal, a graduate of Kellyville high school, earned his bachelor's degree in Education (Magna Cum Laude) from Langston University, where he was on a Football and Academic Scholarship. He has his master’s degree in Education from Southwestern Oklahoma State University.  In his free time, Sal enjoys watching his kids play sports, watching sports, playing golf or fishing.  His Wife Sarah is the Principal Secretary at Wells Middle School, together they have three wonderful boys who all attend Catoosa Public schools.

Assistant Human Resources Director

Hope Hosey is the Executive Assistant of Human Resources. She is a Catoosa graduate and has worked at Catoosa Public Schools for 18 years. She served as the secretary at Helen Paul Learning Center in her previous position. She loves being part of a great team at Catoosa.

Hope has married her husband, Max, for 26 years and is a proud mom and grandma. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, camping, kayaking, and participating in her Native American culture.

Encumbrance Clerk and Activity Fund Custodian

Denise Carlton began her involvement with Catoosa Public Schools over 21 years ago, volunteering to support elementary teachers with classroom educational activities.  While volunteering, she realized she had a passion for assisting the educational advancements of Catoosa’s children.  She has served as JOM Student Educational Facilitator and Secretary at Cherokee Elementary. In her current position, Mrs. Carlton provides various accounting duties as Encumbrance and Activity Funds Clerk. 

Mrs. Carlton’s work at the Educational Service Center stems from her commitment to seeing Catoosa students and faculty excel. She strives to support each district member to reach their best potential. 

Denise and her husband Ronnie have three children and 5 wonderful grandchildren.  She enjoys spending time with her close-knit family and supporting many facets of life within Catoosa.   Along with her efforts to improve young people’s lives, she also desires to improve the community in which she lives.  Denise serves on many committees and is a City of Catoosa’s Park Board member.  This position allows her to interact with and support the citizens of her community.  In her professional or personal time, she strives to improve the lives of those she encounters.

JOM and Native American Director

Debby Phelps is the JOM and Native American Director at Catoosa Public Schools.  She has been in education for 18 years and enjoys working with Native American Students and Families.

Debby began working with the JOM program because of Cherokee storyteller Robert Lewis.  Because of Mr. Lewis, Debby discovered that culture and history could be passed down to the next generation in a fun way.  Debby loves the opportunity to share the Native American language, history, and culture.

Debby graduated from Catoosa Public Schools and completed the requirements for the Cherokee Teacher Enrichment Institute.  Debby enjoys spending time with her five grandchildren, family, and friends in her free time.  Debby and her husband have been married for 32 years and have two daughters who also attended Catoosa Public Schools.
