5th graders had a blast today in the Decimal Diner! The 5th grade math teachers went all out on this classroom transformation for these students to practice adding & subtracting money with decimals in a real world scenario.

4th grade students had the opportunity to visit the D W Correll Museum this week. We were able to enhance student learning by taking what we’ve learned in the classroom and participate in hands on activities. Students loved getting to answer questions, create trace fossils, go on a scavenger hunt, and dig for rocks, minerals, and fossils. We are grateful for Eric and the staff at the museum for this wonderful opportunity!

Wells Middle School parents and families,
I would like to make you aware of a situation that occurred at Wells Middle School today. A bed bug was found in a computer bag in a student’s locker. Bed bugs like to "hitch-hike" on a student's clothing, shoes, books or backpack. While bed bugs are a nuisance, they are not known to spread disease. A bed bug bite is painless and may or may not become swollen and itch, much like a mosquito bite. It is advisable to watch for clusters of bites, usually in a line, on exposed areas of the body. If you have medical concerns for you or your child, please contact your family physician.I have contacted the Catoosa Public Schools Maintenance Department and we have been working urgently with them to ensure that we thoroughly assess the situation and take all appropriate follow-up actions.
Even though it is unlikely for bed bugs to infest a school, Catoosa Public Schools, in partnership with West Pest Control, conducted an inspection of the specimen and the area where the bed bug was found. Based on their findings, I want to assure you that there is no bed bug infestation at Wells Middle School. Out of an abundance of caution, our maintenance team and West exterminators are working together this evening to fully treat all potentially affected areas.
Please keep in mind that bed bugs are not a factor of the cleanliness of the environment, they affect everyone equally, and the source of the bed bugs often cannot be determined as they may be found in many places. As a precautionary measure, it’s always a good idea to have your student check him/herself and their bags(s) before they enter home after the school day has ended.
If you have any questions about how the school is handling this situation, please feel free to contact me at the number above and send me an email to rlangley@catoosa.k12.ok.us
Sincerely,
Rex Langley
Principal
Wells Middle School
